Get the In’s and Out’s of Lake County Boat Ramps

Unless you have a boat slip or are boating on Lake Michigan or the Fox Waterway, your boating experience in Lake County will involve boat ramps and launches. And we have plenty. Most of our navigable public lakes and waterways have at least one marina or public boat access.

Just to mention a few of them, there are a number of boat ramps on Chain O’Lakes: There are free ramps located in Chain O’Lakes State Park. Port of Blarney Marina has a ramp on Ackerman Channel, which connects Fox Lake and Nippersink Lake. On Fox Lake, Ben Watts Marina, which has 300 slips, has a launch that can handle watercraft of all sizes. On Lake Michigan, Waukegan Harbor has very nice boat ramps as well as parking and a Park-N-Launch service so you don’t have to haul your boat back and forth.

Check our listings and links for the best place to launch. We also have detailed maps listing all of the publically accessible boat ramps in Lake County.
